Tunage
Music has been a big part of my life. I grew up playing instruments and always had my CD player or IPod Nano with me where ever I went. I can’t sing, nor do I play music today, but I love a good rhythm and quality production. I think we all listen to pretty different music, so get to know me based on what I’m currently listening to, some of my playlists, and of course, my unwarranted opinions.
Find a catalog of my playlists here.
Currently only available on Apple Music, but if enough people are interested, I’m willing to create them on Spotify.
Spooky season has arrived, and my vibe has been a bit spooky. In the sense that I’m listening to all these cuffing tunes knowing I’m single and loving it to the maxAnyways, outside of mourning GHOE and enjoying the transition into fall, here are the albums I’ve been listening to this month.
This rotation is honestly my oddest. For once in a very long time, I’m not entrenched in a particular artist or album but certain songs. I went out and explored new music by testing out my Alexa and Apple Music’s “new music” playlists.
This was one of the first of many no shuffles I made. I know it’s old because the cover is of my cat, which was originally the cover of all my playlist. Enjoy one of the first of many no shuffles I made.
I was really in my feels when I made this, so if you don’t want to get put in your feelings, please don’t listen.
A Good, upbeat, praise and worship playlist. If you have to push yourself into a praise, this is the one. You will soon find yourself jumping around, nodding your head, in a place of gratitude that reminds you why God is just so worthy to be praised.
This is like, every melodic song from my favorite bands I can think of. I don’t know what other word to use than deep. It’s got very heavy basslines. Very slow tunes. It’s good for a chill night of studying. Also good if you want to get into the alternative scene. Oh, I also threw in some Smino and Thundercat for good measure (and basslines, it’s always the bassline).
Worship songs to really touch the soul. This playlist is good for getting into meditation, prayer, or if you like to spend your nights with God. Grab this tissue cause you will be crying by at least the 3rd song.
The St. Louis in me had to make a Smino no shuffle. Not only because I’m proud of him for putting on for the Lou, but mainly because he is in my top 10 of artist. This is a very magical playlist as all of Smino’s music is just a vibe
There is nothing like starting your day with God. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. This morning worship is full of upbeat classics from Donald Lawrence, Fred Hammond, and Marvin Sapp. There is nothing like starting your morning with “Praise Him in Advance” and “You Covered Me.”
The sound on this bus is astronomical. It is full of songs you would feel about a lover who is not officially or even technically your lover. I think the best song that describes this playlist is “We Both Know” by Bryson Tiller. Just google the lyrics then listen to the playlist.
This is every song I need that makes me feel like I already won the battle. If you don’t feel like you’re going to win but need to push and get a break through, this will do it. It’s a playlist full of reminders that God has never lost a battle and that we are more than conquerors. Let this album uplift your spirit or put you in an attitude of winning.
This playlist is to be paired with the “Overcoming Devotional” that you can find under the Faith and Devotion section. It features songs that resonated with me when I was at my lowest. Songs that cry out to God about redemption, hard times, but most importantly, living through it. If you’re in a hard place, I recommend listening to this playlist and really letting it minister to you.
I don’t know what I was thinking when I made this no shuffle (lol) but do listen and tell me what you think.
If you love to cook to music, this is the one. It’s got some early 2000s on there as well as some current tracks. It’s everything you didn’t know you loved cooking to, like “old Kanye”, Solange, and Michael Jackson.
My Kid Cudi no shuffle was my hardest to make. Not only because there is so much quality music in his catalog, but because it was so hard to choose from. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite songs as they transition into one another.
This playlist is still prevalent. Made when the Black Lives Matters protests sparked across America, this was my go-to playlist when it was time to be on the frontlines. It has a mix of classics and current “conscious” rap. Most of it is themed around being black in America, anti-police, but then there’s songs like “Faneto” and “Numb Numb Juice” just to get your energy up. I am the most proud of this playlist.
This is everything I listened to while quarantined. I literally listened to the same thing for months. It has a lot of very chill, low vibes on here. Tons of Tora, because I found them during the pandemic and instantly fell in love. The best way to describe this is as a time capsule of my rotation during quarantine.
Another short and sweet no shuffle. This no shuffle features songs from women artist. You’ll soon realize that I don’t listen to women so much. Those things are starting to change as I grow older and find more artist that I like, but four years ago I was barely listening to Beyoncé (and I wish I was capping). Enjoy this very beautiful, vocally charged playlist.
Okay so, I made this post breakup. It’s got a lot of different vibes on here because pick me up music looks different for me. It’s got some typical post breakup songs like, “Needed Me” and “Irreplaceable.” Some pretty angry ones like “We Ain’t Homies” and “Up the Street.” And plenty of trap music because nothing screams pick your head up and grind more than “Stick Talk” and “Numb Numb Juice”
This is my favorite No Shuffle for a particular artist. Not only because I am a closet Drake stan (his fans do too much for me so I keep it on the DL), but because his R&B, trying to sing vibe just does it for me. I really love the transitions on this one. Please enjoy.
Okay, I finally put down my playlist “Zombie Apocalypse and Chill” and picked up some new music. Most of these albums are 20-45 minutes long, so I listen to at least four of them a day. They’re also mainly themed around love, which is lowkey weird. What is my conscious telling me? Hm. Anyways. Check out the albums I’ve been listening to for the past month.
I’ve been listening to the same thing Since quarantine has started. I usually switch my vibe up after one or two months but seeing as the worlds kind of been on the same wave since March, I too, have been on the same wave. Here are the top five albums and artist in my rotation from the past 4-5 months.
